Screening Measures Checklist
The following checklist can be used to evaluate the efficacy and efficiency of screening tools. The checklist includes essential skills for screening and other important elements to consider such as whether a tool is norm-referenced, manageable to administer and appropriate for relevant grades.
* Normed implies that the assessment tool has been normed-referenced, or administered to a wide-range of age-matched peers. This process is part of a lengthy procedure, and ensures that scores and cut-points for risk are a valid and reliable measure of ability when compared to the larger population of children.
*Use as a Benchmark measure indicated that performance on this assessment can also serve as one of the baseline scores that corresponds to skill expectations at the beginning of the school year.
*Family history was not included as a indicator on this assessment.
